Alvin Mason Lothrop

The merchant Alvin Mason Lothrop commissioned the monumental Beaux-Arts mansion at 2001 Connecticut Avenue NW in the Kalorama Triangle, designed by Hornblower & Marshall and built in 1908–1909. He lived in the 40-room house until his death in 1912; it remains a contributing landmark of the district.
